Personal Care for the Elderly
in Greater Manchester
What is Personal Care?
As people get older, we all need a helping hand from time to time with the daily routine. Personal care is commonly associated with personal hygiene and getting dressed or undressed.
With a personal carer, you’re able to live the way you want, in your own home. With support from experienced carers, you don’t have to compromise your independence. Unlike in care homes for the elderly, you have one-to-one support from a private home carer focused on helping you enjoy life the way you want.
Personal homecare is particularly great for people who don’t want disruption in their life. There’s no need to move or get used to new places and faces. People with dementia benefit from homecare and remaining in the familiar surroundings of their own home. Safe, comfortable and well looked after by one-to-one support.

How does personal care work?
Personal Home Care is tailored to your needs. Whether you like to get up early, have a lie-in, take care of your personal care needs before or after breakfast, your personal care assistant will adjust to your routine.
With a personal care assistant visiting regularly, you’ll have the reassurance of receiving one-to-one care in your own home. Our personal carers in Greater Manchester support your needs as they change.

Professional care workers always respect your dignity at all times. And because you choose the same people to help, they’ll get to know how you like things done, so everything is just right!
We help families across Greater Manchester find the best personal carer services for their unique needs. All carers have had their qualifications and criminal record checked. You don’t have to worry about doing it yourself. And you can get the support you need within days.

They've all been wonderful looking after my elderly dad. He's much happier now with his carers. It's good that we have the same people coming all the time as he has dementia and the previous homecare agency sent different people all the time, which was confusing for him.
I can't visit him in Manchester at the moment because of lockdown, but I feel better that he's being well looked after and his carers are so loving. Money well spent.Mabel Davies2/06/2021 -
I loved working here. Much better than the agencies I've worked for. I had great flexibility and the pay was good. To be honest, they really look after the carers. Much better than anywhere else I worked. I'll definitely come back to work with them. Also liked that I could do homecare and live in care around all of Greater Manchester and not just one part. I sometimes did extra live in care work for a lovely elderly couple near Stockport on top of my usual home care visits.

I can't express how lovely our carer has been for mum. She'd been trapped in hospital for so long we were worried she'd never return home. I've got nothing but praise for everyone who works at Holm Care. Thank you so much. I really recommend anyone looking for private care around the Manchester / Stockport area should try them.

According to CQC, personal care consists of the provision of personal care for people who are unable to provide it for themselves, because of old age, illness or disability, and which is provided to them in the place where those people are living at the time when the care is provided. As an example, this includes personal care provided by a domiciliary care agency. It also includes Shared Lives schemes.
Everyone has their own opinion, but in our experience, personal carers should show empathy, respect, patience, positivity, reliability and care as well as the right skills, qualifications and experience.
At Holm Care, we check that all our carers meet these qualities.
